Yes, exactly, why keep working?! Yet everybody is still working. Dissonant narrative. If you claim the power but don’t exercise the power do you truly possess the power? Fascinating discussion. If you actually resolve the dissonance the terms won’t matter and neither will continuing to work matter. It’s not squishy it’s a hard boundary.
It’s a hard boundary but it doesn’t have to be. Paid work is a continuum.
Speak softly and carry a big stick. Spend carefully and carry a big nest egg. Power does not require use to achieve great things.
