Gratitude Wednesday

Gratitude Wednesday

There is only one downside to this great financial independence community.  Everyone is just too damn accomplished! While safely setting aside my own insane jealousy, it’s impossible not to be awe-inspired by the creativity and talent of this great group of people.  This series of posts is called gratitude Wednesday posts.  This gives me a chance to recognize/promote individuals who have knocked me off my feet by engaging, writing grade A material, or being extremely social media savvy.  I would die for the skills, intelligence, and downright friendliness of the writers highlighted today.  I will purposefully focus on what I think of as emerging blogs.  Everybody already knows about the websites that garner millions of page views a year.  I will focus on the future movers and shakers.

The Rich Miser

In His Own Words:

So, one day I realized that I was gaining all of this knowledge, and that I could combine it with my love of reading and writing to start a blog. And that’s how The Rich Miser was born! If you’re curious, I got the name from Scent of a Woman, from the scene where Chris O’Donnell asks Al Pacino if he’s a rich miser. The concept behind it, as I’ve adopted it, is to build wealth and live well (even a little glamorously), but be something of a miser when it comes to spending. Buy the nice things, but not too many, and never paying retail.

I hope you enjoy my writings and find them useful. I also love learning and bettering myself and The Rich Miser, so I’d be more than grateful if you let me know when I miss something, or when I could make something better. You can contact me here.

In His Own Words:

Hello, friends, and welcome to The Financial Journeymana personal finance blog about my journey toward financial independence (FI) and goal of reaching early retirement (FIRE).  My posts are about saving money, investingbeing frugal, travel, finding good deals when you do spend money, avoiding debt, and having a great time along the journey.

Are you interested in breaking the chains of having to work for a living?  Do you dream of being free?  Being free to live without the restraints of having to earn a paycheck was what first motivated me to reach financial independence.

Do you want to build wealth and retire early?  Wealth equals freedom.  Early retirement is the opportunity to live on your terms.

Do you want to spend your time perusing your passions?  Imagine having the time to be able to pursue your dreams.  What is standing in your way?  For most people it is money.  Financial independence is the bridge that connects individuals to a lifestyle of their own design.

Do you want the freedom of choice as to how you will send your days?  Imagine the possibilities.  You can be free to escape the rat-race and live how you want.

If you have answered yes to any of these questions, you‘ve found the right personal finance blog.  I am obsessed with being free.  I think of it on a daily basis.  It has been a goal of mine for many years.

You have a wide variety of interests, are intelligent, and are always curious to find out more.

You want time to enjoy the important things in life with the people closest to you.

Who’s Moose?

I’m a military and finance industry veteran who writes this blog to be of use to my fellow apes. My goals are to become financially independent and retire early (FIRE), lift a metric ass-ton of weight, be useful, and continuously improve, refine, and make sense of life.

I’ve spent years researching these topics and have seen few resources pull these disparate parts of all our lives together in a cohesive way. While my content is currently finance-oriented, expect posts about fitness/health and other useful things to pop up as well.

Bottom Line: Financial Freedom Through Discipline
